I had the same problem with DD-WRT slowing down my gigabit wireless so I switched to a Merlin build (looks very similar to the stock firmware) and that solved the problem. Merlin's philosophy is to be stable first, then add features. Whereas DD-WRT is all about features and less about speed/stability in my opinion.
